Figure [1]: Eggnog without liqueur: the Christmas drink 'Egg Nog'

Angelika Christmas is just around the corner, and the season of eggnog is beginning. On supermarket shelves, cartons labeled "Egg Nog" suddenly appear, not far from the milk. The slightly yellowish-looking drink is made from milk, liquid cream, sugar, eggs, and spices like nutmeg. It is served both cold and hot, and can be enhanced with rum, whiskey, or brandy.

Allegedly, the drink originally comes from England, and it was, of course, homemade and not bought in ready-made bags. There is also some debate about the name. One thing is certain, the "Egg" in "Egg Nog" undoubtedly refers to eggs. However, whether "Nog" refers to a small vessel used in the past or is a short form of "Egg and Grog" is not exactly known. In any case, I am absolutely crazy about the "Egg Nog Latte," which, for example, sold at the coffee shop Martha's around the corner from us. This special Cafe Latte consists of espresso and a mixture of Egg Nog and milk. Delicious, and only available during the Christmas season!
