Michael Those who buy food in larger quantities save more proportionally, that is well known. However, in a two-person household, the problem arises that in mega-supermarkets like Costco, there are always only six steaks or a pound of cheese available, and no one can consume such quantities before the expiration date.
I used to always think, "Meh, frozen and thawed, it doesn't taste good anymore," but I've since changed my mind, especially when it comes to meat. However, there's always some air left in a freezer bag next to the frozen food, and the moisture trapped in it turns into small crystals and unsightly white deposits. Freezer burn (horror music)!!
Here's the translation to English:
"By the way, and this is surely nothing new for the kitchen foxes among you, if you use a vacuum pump like the one from the company Foodsaver to suck out the air before the bag is sealed airtight, this doesn't happen, and the frozen food thaws effortlessly in the refrigerator overnight and tastes like new.
The system is also suitable for sliced sausage, ham, or cheese. Simply insert a roll of film of the desired width into the box, cut the desired length with the cutter, and then first seal the bottom end of the resulting plastic tube. The special wrapping material sticks together when pressed and heated. Now you have an open bag at the top, into which you place the food to be frozen. Then, place the upper edge on the sealer and close the lid of the food saver. Next, press "Vacuum + Seal," and the device will suck the remaining air out of the bag and then seal it airtight in one go.
The device catches any leaking liquid in a channel, and you can even explicitly choose between "Wet" and "Dry." In the "Wet" setting, the box doesn't suck as strongly on the frozen goods, so that moist contents don't dry out and the pumped-out liquid doesn't mess up the burner's drainage channel.
Replacement bag rolls are not as cheap as the usual zip-lock bags because they are made from this special film that seals with heat. However, when bought in larger quantities, the price is quite reasonable, and such a shrink pack costs about 20 cents per unit. Top product!
